This gorgeous pair of tables were manufactured by the well-respected Baker Furniture, Inc. The company was begin in Holland before moving production to Grand Rapids, MI.
Production was moved to North Carolina in 2006 where they are still in operation. These tables were more than likely manufactured in Grand Rapids some time in the 1990s. Made from a luminous walnut, they feature burlwood parquetry on the tops, cabinet doors, and the front of the single drawer, as well as brass hardware throughout. The design is an American incarnation of French Provincial, which was very popular at this time, and is visible in the geometric moldings on the doors and the insets of burlwood, as well as the moldings on the table edges and shortened legs.
The tables each measure 27 1/2" high, 26" wide, 18 deep, and weigh approximately 20 lbs. They each have a single wide, shallow drawer with double pulls and a outward-opening cupboard with central dangles. The cupboard is wide open and was not designed with shelves or the option to add them. These vintage night tables are in very good to excellent condition, with only minor age-related wear to the feet and top corners.
