795 at the 1st fret and fills out to. The walnut fretboard is un-finished (like a rosewood board) and the original frets are intact, showing l.
Ight wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-9, mostly consisting of minor flattening of the crowns. A carved bone nut has been installed, measuring 1 5/8 in width and ensuring optimal sustain and articulation. The headstock features gold-plated Schaller-made tuning machines embossed with the Fender name, and these tuners turn very smoothly and hold pitch reliably, even with liberal vibrato use. Reverting to the specs of a'50s Strat, this guitar features truss rod adjustment at the neck heel, a smaller'50s-style peghead, and a maple "skunk stripe" on the back of the neck which contrasts nicely with the walnut. Stamped on the neck heel, the guitar dates to 3-2-82.The electronics all function as intended, with three vintage 1976 Fender Strat single coils with matching date stamps on the gray bobbins and original windings. The harness consists of a trio of new CTS 250k pots and a five-way Switchcraft selector switch. All of the original hardware and plastic parts are intact, including the brass bridge unique to this model with an absolutely massive sustain block. The large metal "F" embossed knobs and bridge still have extremely clean plating, and the original gold plated tremolo arm is also present. The four-bolt neck plate has "Fender USA" very faintly embossed along the top edge too. Cosmetically, this Strat is a real stunner, and the transparent gloss finish on the walnut body and neck highlight the prominent grain of a tone wood rarely seen on any Fender instrument. What little buckle rash exists on this instrument is mostly relegated to the plastic trem cover on the back, and the body shows only a few additional small nicks and scratches. There is light palm wear through the gloss on the fretboard edges, and one.
Shallow nick on the treble side of the neck profile behind fret 6 which isn't distracting to the palm. Overall, this is a particularly well preserved example of one of Fenders rarest 1980s upscale Strat models.A vintage early'80s Fender molded hardshell case is included and in great shape with the original handle and functional latches.
